RETREAT OVERVIEW
Certain rites of passage require that the world must seem upside down or be about to end before a step into the unknown can stir the soul and inspire the dream of life to awaken again. In times of crisis there can be an acceleration of calling as solving pressing problems in the outer world requires a transformation of the inner world of the soul.
Being alive at this time requires an expansion of identity in order to avoid being overwhelmed by the flood of changes surging through both nature and culture. The inner story and true plotline of the soul only unfolds when we allow ourselves to be pulled further into life than we would choose to go on our own.
Ancient wisdom and initiation practices involved the secret of letting go of what holds us back, even if it protected us early in life. Like a long-lived snake, we grow by letting go of who we thought we were and by shedding skins imposed upon us as well as those we choose to hide within. For, a life fully lived requires that we redeem unwanted and rejected parts of ourselves.
When the world is in upheaval, the soul imagines that the time is right for opening the eyes of the soul, finding ways to grow from within and new ways of seeing and being. This retreat will focus on ways of transforming our lives by shedding habitual patterns and self-defeating ideas in order to live closer to our genuine self.
Join us on this path of transformation with a diverse faculty who will present ideas and elements from tribal traditions, spiritual practices, psychological perspectives, and a rich array of personal experiences.
“Rites of transformation help restore our instinctive relationship to the natural world, making us available to spontaneous sources of healing and inspiration. On the ground of ritual undiscovered parts of ourselves can awaken and strengthen our sense of meaning and purpose in life.”
