The Soul in Exile
A Mentoring Retreat for Younger and Older Men
Tuesday - Sunday, August 13-18, 2013
Mendocino Woodlands Camp, Mendocino, CA
Through stories, poems and the compelling speech of the soul, through the suddenness of ideas and the surprise of ritual we will seek the spirit of change and the deep imagination of the soul.
The great crises of the world do not take place outside the soul; for history is made in the struggle of the individual soul to survive and make meaning of the world around it. Yet, the individual soul can feel increasingly isolated and exiled in a world of rapid change, intensifying oppositions, and ideological blindness. The modern world suffers from a loss of soul and lack of the meaningful narratives needed to properly orient life and reveal psyche's hidden resources.
When we lose our way in this world it is the soul's way of being in touch with the world that has been lost. We are most lost and truly in exile when we have lost touch with our own soul, with our unique, inward style and way of being in this world. Yet, being lost is a requirement for finding the way again.
